JOHNSBURY - A year ago, the heart of St. Johnsbury's Main Street was a firefighting battle zone, with emergency workers from across the region on-hand to quell an inferno that destroyed three historic buildings, left 20 people homeless, displaced businesses, flooded a veteran's club, drained the town water tanks, spurred a boil notice and closed a stretch of Main Street.
