As you go down the road of your entrepreneurial journey, you will face many challenges. One of these challenges will include maintaining a flow of creativity that allows you to be both productive and innovative in the workplace.

Fortunately, there are some ways in which you can jump start your creativity and think in a more creative way. Here are eight ways in which you may be able to spark that creative flow.

Step Outside the Box (Or the Office)

We all have experienced times in which we notice we have sat at our desks for hours on end without getting up and moving around. It’s important to remember to take breaks throughout the day, whether it’s to go outside and get some fresh air, go for a walk, do some stretches or enjoy a nice cup of tea or coffee. Stepping away for a brief moment can be one of the best things you can do for your productivity. Give your brain a rest and allow fresh ideas to come afloat.

Visualize

Innovation and creativity are said to stem from our ability to be creative. There are many individuals who are wired to be visual thinkers. This can not be said for all people, so if is important to try to some visual brainstorming exercises.

Network

Joining networking groups is a great way to gather some ideas and collaborate with other creative people and entrepreneurs. This is a great way to generate some new ideas and an opportunity to gather feedback.

Research

Of course you don’t want to copy people, but don’t be afraid to look at what your competitors are doing. Research is a great way to help generate ideas and spark creativity. It is also a great way to see what other people are doing that you don’t like. Finding things that you like and don’t like will help you get an idea of what kind of initiatives you want to take next.

Listen to Music

Listening to music is a wonderful way to boost creativity. Research shows that listening to your favorite music can help spark ideas. Whether your favorite genre is classical, country or even heavy metal, putting on a pair of headphones might help to trigger the creative spark you need.

Be Positive

There are various benefits to positive thinking that help trigger creativity. Not only does it make you more willing to open up to that creativity, but it also helps to keep you focused and operate on a more productive level.

Start a Routine

It’s important to set some time out of your day to help get your creative juices flowing. What this routine will include will vary for every person. For me, I listen to music as I get ready every morning. While doing this I try to visualize how my day is going to go and create a mental list of things I want to get done. Like all things, creativity takes practice. You may notice that one routine you try does not work well for you and that’s okay. Just keep trying a different routine until you find something that works for you.

Conclusion

Saying that being creative sometimes be difficult is an understatement. Sometimes it can seem impossible to spark the creativity you are looking for. When you are in this situation, try to look back at these tips and continue to think about them as you go throughout your day. Creativity may not happen over night for you, but if you continue to focus on ways that will help you be creative that is a great start.
